What this exam is made of

On the exam you answer 25 questions about a number of short texts, each text with a few questions of its own. A practice exam here has about 10 texts (9 to 12), with 2 or 3 questions each. The texts are of these kinds:

LetterA letter, for example from the council, a school or a landlord.
E-mailAn e-mail from a colleague, a friend or a company.
LeafletA leaflet or a notice: opening hours, prices, rules.
ArticleA short article from a newspaper or a magazine.
Web pageA page on a website.

Onderhoud van de lift2/3

Alle bewoners van een flatgebouw krijgen een brief van de VvE.

Beste bewoners,

De motor van onze lift is verouderd en moet vervangen worden. Daarom krijgt de lift binnenkort groot onderhoud. De lift is dan een paar dagen niet te gebruiken. We willen u hierover op tijd informeren, zodat u zich kunt voorbereiden.

Datum: van dinsdag 12 november tot en met donderdag 14 november
Tijd: de hele dag
Wie doet het werk: liftbedrijf Stijgtechniek

In deze dagen kunt u alleen de trap gebruiken. Wij vragen u om zware boodschappen, zoals kratten water of grote pakketten, liever een andere dag te bestellen of op te halen.

Hebt u moeite met traplopen, of gebruikt u een rolstoel of rollator? Neem dan voor 5 november contact op met de VvE. Wij zoeken dan samen naar een oplossing, bijvoorbeeld hulp van een buurman of buurvrouw, of een tijdelijke andere afspraak.

Op vrijdag 15 november testen de monteurs de lift. Werkt alles goed? Dan kunt u de lift vanaf zaterdag weer gewoon gebruiken.

What is the Reading exam like?

Is anything read out on the Reading exam?

No. You read the texts, the questions and the answers yourself. Each question has three answers to choose from.

How many questions must I get right on the exam?

About 18 of the 25. DUO sets the exact pass mark for each exam. A practice exam here shows you straight away whether you make it.

How should I practise here?

Start with a practice set of one text. Then you see where each answer is in the text, and which kind of text or question to practise. Then take a timed practice exam.
